Another day with diabetes. I am not feeling good today. I want to sleep alot. I guess I am going to have to get help from a dietitian. I need to pay closer attention to what I eat. I have a doctor's appointment in June.
May 16th, 200912:10 am: ADDENDUM TO MOTHER'S DAY
On Wednesday after Mother's Day, I plugged my phone in to charge and it dinged with 7 messages. Unbeknownst to me the phone wasn't working for a few days, (I guess it was tired and needed a rest.) Among other calls was one from my photographer son. He called on Mother's Day and was disappointed that he couldn't connect to me. I called him back and he said he is working on a layout for National Geographic. We don't know yet when it will be in print. Hugs to all who read this. Thanks for your time.
May 10th, 200909:03 pm: Thoughts on Mother's Day
I have in the past been an upset Mother on this day when my children didn't call me. Today I decided to think of what they mean to me and the accomplishments each had made in their lives.
My daughter is the oldest. She put herself though college almost single handed. She got her Masters Degree online while teaching Kindergarten and keeping a home running. I am very proud of her. She is the only one that is married.
My oldest son graduated from high school and left for San Francisco the next day. He had a job there as a photogher's assistance. He has published a number of books of pictures of Endangered Species. The most recent book was photos for Alice Waters book Urban Gardens. Needless to say I am very proud of him too.
My youngest son graduated high school and went to New York to live. He with the help of his dad, got his BS and went to Pre-Med. He went to Medical School for a few years, and was forced to quit for a while. I am also, very proud of him.
I am very proud of all my children, I love them all very much. If I were never to hear from again, I would keep these memories of them forever. Current Mood: peaceful
April 10th, 200907:30 pm: What is happening.
(We are back in the BLM campground as Coordinators again for the winter. DH is doing better and is breathing better and can talk pretty well again. We still don't know what caused his problems. The Drs say he didn't have a stroke. So who knows?) As you can see the above did not post in September. We have had a easy winter so far as the office has been. Fran was sick again for about 6 weeks and Jack for about 2 weeks. We call it the Quartzsite Crud and the doctors call it a virus. We will move around the 1st of May and be back to the BLM campground again in September 1,2009. We are staying in an RV outside of Quartzsite for the months May through August, watering and security for the own when she is gone from her home. It is a very laid back type job. Current Mood: cheerful

For some reason, we couldn't link up to the tower for Internet. Then one evening this week everything started working better than it had when we had lived 2 miles closer. I don't know if they increased their signal, but it works. That is all I care about. The campground opened on Sept 15. Almost all of our staff is here and are working. We spent Wednesday night through Friday night last week in Palm Springs, CA. with my sister and her husband at their time share. We had a good visit. The drive over and back seems like a long way. It took about 2.5 hours each way. I guess we are just getting old. I have done so little crafting in recent months that I am really needing to get back to something. I think I'll try to finish the picture frame that I started for my nephew and his wife, as a wedding gift in August of last year (2006). They are expecting their first baby in January. So, I need to come up with something for the baby, and then there are Christmas presents for those under 16 who will be attending the family Christmas Dinner at one of my family members home. So, I guess I better get to work.
August 26th, 200704:12 pm: Moving in two weeks!
In the next two weeks we move back to the BLM campground to host for another winter season. This will be our 4th season as hosts in this particular campground. We will be working with most of the crew from last year, that makes for less work training new recruits. We got good news that the hosts nearest to us will be back for another season. We are so glad that they are coming back. They are such great friends. We will be celebrating our wedding anniversaries, theirs will be 51 years, ours 32 years on September 12. It will the be third year we celebrate together.
August 21st, 200702:33 pm: Good news.
My sister had a lumpectomy and will probably have radiation. The cancer had not spread to the lymph glands. She was home and resting yesterday afternoon when I talked to her daughter. Current Mood: ecstatic
August 18th, 200708:57 pm: Summer 2007
I'm wondering when the other shoe will drop! In early April one of our daughters was in an auto accident. She is now in a nursing home and has not regained consciousness to this point. Then yesterday I got an email from my baby sister saying she is having breast cancer surgery on Monday, August 20. Jack is still huffing and puffing, trying to breathe out. Drs don't know or don't care what is causing this. I had an emergency room visit on Wednesday evening for a kidney infection and possible pancreatitis. WHAT IS WITH ALL OF THIS...................??????? Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks, Fran
June 9th, 200709:08 pm: Back on the Internet, sorta!!!!!
Well, here I am again. I am using the Safe Mode to get to the Internet. The tech is supposed to be here sometime this next week. So, until then I guess I will use Safe Mode. Does anyone know if this will hurt my computer???? Current Mood: annoyed
March 9th, 200711:02 am: Summer 2007
Well, it looks like we will be staying in the desert for the summer. DH has been ill, so we don't want to get too far away from his doctors. I think we found the least expensive place in town to stay. (Hope so anyway.) I hope to get some sewing and beading done while we don't have to get up and run over to the office or sit in the office, as we do in the winter, while we are working. This winter we have spent a lot of time at the hospitals and doctors offices. We will be going to Phoenix to the Mayo Clinic in the near future, don't have a date yet.
December 6th, 200603:29 pm: Still off line
Well, at this point I don't know if I will have Internet service this winter season. Jack spent 5 days in the Las Vegas Sunrise Hospital, the first part of November. They found he has a peptic ulcer. Yesterday he had a lump removed from his left breast. He seems to be doing okay now.
November 14th, 200601:03 pm:
No Internet yet. I am at the library today. Hugs.
November 1st, 200612:27 pm: off line for a while
Hopefully by next Tuesday I will have Internet service again at home. The company changed something on the wireless tower and the signal no longer reaches us. I'll update again when I can at home.
September 29th, 200607:31 pm: Birthdays
I have always loved birthdays, (everyone's) mine especially. I don't remember my parents celebrating birthdays as much as some of my siblings do today. My BD is Monday October 2. I will be eligible for Medicare. I don't feel old, most of the time. I just celebrated with one of my sisters this week. We spent 2 days and nights at a resort in the Palm Springs area. They took us out to dinner at a very nice place. We had a very nice time with no pressure from anyone or anything. We relaxed, read, watched tv and napped. It was so much fun. Now, if you are young you probably wouldn't think it much fun, but at our ages if we can get around and just enjoy each others company, that is fun. I guess FUN is relevant. In a couple of weeks my family will gather for a party for me and I will be so happy to see everyone again. There will probably be 18 to 25 at the party. Well, enough of this for now. Current Mood: ecstatic
September 12th, 200610:50 pm: Anniversary Day
We celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary today. We went to dinner with friends who celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We had such fun, in a simple cafe, where there was no hurry to finish and leave. It was sooooo nice. We talked about their trip to Alaska and ship tour that their kids provided for them, and about their party in Oklahoma before they left to come to Arizona. We had a really good time. Well, I am getting repetitive so I'd better quit for now.
September 5th, 200607:24 pm: Moving Day
Well, tomorrow Wednesday Sept.6, is moving day again. We will be moving from the small RV Park we've been in for the last month. We will move out to the BLM site where we will start work on Sept. 15, for the winter season. We will be recruiting campers who would like to work 2 days a week. I hope there are lots of capable campers who are interested this year. Before, we have had a small nucleus, not this year, we start out with the just 2 of us. We do get 2 days off each week even if we are the only ones there. We do have to work weekends though.
